Dear Grandma,
It's been a while, you might not recognize me now. I've grown up, traveled a bit, and met lots of different people. Guess you can say I've matured, but some might tell you I've still got a ways to go yet.
That little boy who used to annoy you, bug you, and even dared to make fun of you, has learned that he was not a good grandson. In my ignorance, I didn't take the time to find out who you are.
Your kindness and compassion are legendary. You treated everyone equally and fairly, probably even that snot-nosed grandson with the Southern drawl.
I'm so sorry for the things I said and the way I acted. You deserved much better.
I love you.
Rest in Peace.
